Applause Recognizes Juneteenth by Raising Money for Dream Corps TECH
Last Friday, June 18, Applause acknowledged Juneteenth, which commemorates the freedom of the last enslaved people in America post-Emancipation Proclamation. To observe this holiday in remembrance of those who were oppressed, Applause used the day as an opportunity to educate staff on the importance of equality.
In addition to closing global offices in honor of Juneteenth, Applause invited employees to participate in the Juneteenth Challenge. For the second year in a row, Applause raised money for Dream Corps TECH, an organization focused on cultivating future leaders and entrepreneurs from underrepresented backgrounds, creating a pipeline of diverse talent in the tech sector.
Applause donated $1 for every mile staff walked, ran, or biked from 8 AM on June 18 to 8 PM on June 20. Both outdoor activity and miles logged using exercise equipment counted toward the total. Employees tracked their miles using various fitness devices and shared their progress, resulting in a $10,000 contribution to Dream Corps TECH.
As a company, Applause is committed to diversity and inclusion – we want our workforce to drive forward those values each and every day. We’re proud of the number of employees who took part in this year’s Juneteenth Challenge and glad to support the important work Dream Corps does to create equal opportunities in tech.
